Riverbed Showcases Market-Leading WAN Acceleration Technology at Telework Exchange Town Hall Meeting

Allows US Federal Agencies and Departments to Meet Telework Mandates; Delivers LAN-like Application Performance and Productivity to Mobile Workers

San Francisco, CA, October 7, 2008 – Riverbed Technology (Nasdaq: RVBD), the technology and market leader in wide-area data services (WDS), today announced its participation at the Fall 2008 Telework Exchange Town Hall Meeting taking place at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC on October 15, 2008. The Telework Exchange will address how government professionals can take telework to the next level and how technology enables telework adoption. With Riverbed® Steelhead® Mobile client software, many file downloads that once took mobile or remote workers an hour or more can be completed in minutes or seconds, resulting in increased employee efficiency and collaboration.

The number of mobile workers within the government sector is expected to increase as a result of the proposed House Telework Enhancement Act of 2008, which requires all US Federal agencies to mandate that all eligible employees have the ability to telework for a minimum of 20 percent of their work week. The Steelhead Mobile software client is intended to deliver LAN-like application performance and productivity to any employee, whether on the road, working from home or connected wirelessly in the office. In addition to accelerating application performance, Steelhead Mobile often reduces bandwidth requirements. Riverbed has performed rigorous compatibility testing of Steelhead Mobile with many of the most frequently used software applications. The Steelhead Mobile software is easy to install and manage and can be set up to be transparent to the user and the network.

Riverbed's participation at the Town Hall Meeting is a byproduct of the strong interest in and adoption of its solutions within the federal market. Riverbed works with many government organizations, ranging from one of the world's largest Navies that was able to achieve "near-terrestrial" performance of its key Web applications on all of its ships, to the U.S. Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). Over 40 government organizations are successfully leveraging Riverbed WDS solutions to enable consolidation of global IT assets, speed data transfer for mobile field operations units, slash backup and data replication times by up to 90 percent, and/or reduce bandwidth costs and utilization.
